Ukrainian decathlete Volodymyr Androsyuk (22) was killed during skirmishes with Russia.
‘Reuters News’ reported on the 2nd (Korean time), “Androsyuk’s funeral was held in Leticia, western Ukraine.”
The media continued, “Androszuk 스포츠토토 was a national team player, so there was no need to enlist. However, he enlisted voluntarily and died in a fierce battle.”
Androsuk died last week in fighting in Bakhmut, eastern Ukraine. He eventually died without ever getting a chance to compete in an international competition.
Colleagues in the decathlon Dmitro Korbenko said, “Androshuk was a talented athlete. He deserved a long and happy life and he left.”
Maria, Androsuk’s friend, was also saddened, saying, “I’ve been imagining Androsuk winning medals for Ukraine. It was completely possible.”
At Androsuk’s funeral, there were voices arguing for a ban on Russia and Belarus from participating in the Olympics.
Recently, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) virtually paved the way for Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in the 2024 Paris Olympics as neutral countries. As a result, Ukraine and some European countries are protesting against the IOC decision.
Ukrainian javelin thrower Artur Felpner claimed: “How can Russian and Belarusian athletes compete in the Olympics? It is incomprehensible to give them a place in a purely competitive Olympics.”
Maria also objected to the participation, saying, “Are you inviting a country that takes the lives of millions of people, including athletes and children, to a sporting event? They must be completely isolated.”
‘Reuters News’ said, “Ukrainian soldiers carried Androszuk’s coffin and carried it through snow-covered streets to a cemetery. Family and friends said goodbye by throwing handfuls of dirt and snow on Androszuk’s grave.” depicting the final scene of
