The NC Dinos will be without two of their key hitters for the final three games of the first half.
According to the first-team roster moves announced by the KBO on Tuesday afternoon, NC has designated infielder Park Min-woo and pitchers Song Myung-ki and Lee Yong-jun for assignment. The three are expected to fill the void before the team’s upcoming series against the Lotte Giants at NC Park in Changwon on April 11.안전놀이터
In Park’s case, it was due to shoulder pain. He was placed on the injured list once before from June 1 to 10 with shoulder pain, but his condition worsened again recently and he was removed for player protection.
“Park Min-woo felt pain in his right shoulder that caused him discomfort in June and was removed from the roster to focus on his recovery until the All-Star break,” the club said.
Park has been a key part of the NC offense this season, batting .311 (73-for-235) with one home run, 24 RBI, 15 doubles and a .750 OPS in 63 games. For NC, which has slumped to 2-8 in its last 10 games, Park’s departure will weaken its offense.
Earlier, NC dropped leadoff hitter Park Gun-woo from the first team roster on the last three days due to team chemistry issues. “As a senior player, I think there are virtues that you need to have as well as skills,” said head coach Kang Myung-ho, “and I felt that Park needed time to mature, so I adjusted the roster.”
NC suffered back-to-back losses to the Samsung Lions in Changwon, Anbang, last weekend, dropping to 37 wins, 38 losses and one draw on the season. They dropped from fourth to fifth in the standings, and with Park Min-woo out of the lineup, they are likely to struggle in their final three-game series against Lotte in the first half of the season.
SSG Landers foreign batsman Guillermo Heredia will briefly fly to the United States for personal reasons. He is expected to return in the second half of the season after being absent for an interview to become a US citizen.
SSG signature hitter Choi Jeong-jeong, who was named the MVP of the month in June, had to end the first half of the season prematurely after being diagnosed with a tibialis muscle injury in his left leg.
The KIA Tigers also released foreign pitcher Sanchez, who made his KBO debut against the Suwon KT Wiz on April 9. Sanchez pitched 6⅓ innings, allowing one run on five hits and one walk while striking out 10. He was removed from the roster as he is not eligible to pitch the remainder of the first half.
Foreign pitchers Felix Peña of the Hanwha Eagles, Dan Streeley of the Lotte Giants and Albert Suarez of the Samsung Lions were also removed from the first team roster as they are not scheduled to make any additional appearances in the first half.
