“Fucking monkey” Vinicius’ racism: Real fans did it too

A video of a racist slur directed at Ronald Araujo has resurfaced.

The Spanish soccer world has been awash in racism lately, and while racism that deserves to be banned forever is something that happens all the time, this time it was pretty serious.

Here’s what happened. During the match between Valencia and Real Madrid at Valencia’s home on April 22, a Valencia fan racially abused Real striker Vinicius Junior by calling him a “monkey”. Enraged, Vinicius and the Real players went to the front of the Valencia stands and got into a nerve-wracking confrontation with the Valencia home fans. The referee stepped in to calm him down, but he was unable to control his emotions and was sent off for a late foul.메이저사이트

After the game, Vinicius took to social media to condemn the incident, and coach Carlo Ancelotti spoke to local media about the seriousness of the racial slurs he received. Real also said in an official statement that they would file a complaint. Even the Brazilian government has stepped in and said it is looking into the possibility of taking legal action against the Valencia fans who made the racist comments to Vinicius.

There has been talk of Vinicius leaving the club, but he has said that he would rather stay with the team and work to resolve the issue for the sake of future players in Spain. Valencia released an official statement saying that the fans would be severely punished with a permanent ban from the stadium, but also that “there was misinformation that could confuse the public. We don’t accept that the whole of Valencia is racist,” the club said in a controversial statement.

The Vinicius case has brought to the forefront another player’s racial abuse. Spain’s Mundo Deportivo highlighted a video posted by a social media account that claimed Barcelona center back Araujo was racially abused at the Santiago Bernabeu during a match against Real.

In the video, Araujo can be seen slumped over by the corner flag in pain and a Real fan can be heard saying something to him. “Mundo Deportivo” explained that the voice said “Macaco de mierda” and “Hijo de puta”. “Damn monkey” and “You son of a bitch”. These are similar to the words Vinicius heard in the Valencia game.

“Despite some of the insults Araujo received, there was no controversy at the time, although the words of the Real fans were serious,” the outlet pointed out.
